On today’s episode we host Dan Achatz. Dan is a Long Island native who graduated from Seaford HS and played lacrosse and graduated from Rutgers University and received his Masters in Education from Manhattanville. At Rutgers, Dan was named Captain and earned All ECAC honors. Dan also earned the Rutgers Lacrosse Knight Cup which is awarded to the player who has played the game of lacrosse to the best of his ability, who has, by example, inspired or led his teammates both on and off the field and who, above all, has consistently demonstrated the qualities of unselfishness and loyalty to his team and Rutgers University. Dan currently teaches high school in Valley Stream. He was the Boy’s Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Valley Stream from 2007-2014. Currently he is the Boy’s Varsity Lacrosse Assistant at Plainedge HS and Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Valley Stream North. Along with Dan’s teaching and HS coaching, he is the owner and operator of Be the Best Sports Camp – training, clinics and camps.
Dan’s competitiveness and intensity is clear. Dan shares the preparedness tools he’s experimented with and which ones he uses to this day. He’s bringing the same fire and discipline to his coaching ventures as he brought as an athlete and it’s super exciting!
